Finally finished this~! Took me forever, but that's partially because I've been so busy lately. And partly because I've been lazy. I was even going to do a background, but then... It wouldn't work out. Maybe someday...
This is Fira (the girl) and Marin (the boy), two characters from an RPG me and my friend had going awhile back based on the Jumi from Squaresoft's Legend of Mana. Oh, good times those were, how I miss them.
Fira was my character, the Knight of Fire Opal. She's... something special. A real determined brat who can kick some serious ass. My original design for her had long hair, but she's since had a hair cut. The short hair suits her better anyway.
Marin was my friend's character, the Guardian of Aquamarine. He's an old guy (Fira is actually his second knight, his first one having passed away), and probably the most patient person in existence for putting up with Fira. He also can use a bow ans arrow pretty well, making him an oddity among guardians.
Maybe next I should do Fira's "siblings". I haven't drawn Opal in awhile, and I've never done a picture of Aupala.
...Anyway, all done in MSpaint, took.... probably around... 7 hours total of work? But I was being distracted and kept changing things around.
Oh, it got ni~~ce <3 So the Marin character was a boy? I thought it was a girl too, since you never said anything and it was the guardian XD I wonder if there's actually male guardians. I find it kind of hard to believe because of the original (japanese) name for the guardian jumi. It'd be weird if a guy was called a princess O_o Unless the name changed. They always say "priencess" as a general word for guardian, but it could just be because there's much more females? I wonder =w= Anyway, good job <33 And I can totally relate to being distracted, changing things around and not being able to properly deal with the background D:
Hahaha. I really wonder. Since there's so little official information on the Jumi we had to just kind of wing it sometimes, and since it seems that not only men can be knights (though it seems the majority of the males are knights) it seemed to make sense that there could be male guardians too. Marin's a bit of a princess anyway. XD
And yeah, backgrounds are evil! I'm always all "I'm going to make a background!", but it just never turns out...
Well, yeah, it seens like the knight is really just a jumi who can fight rather than something you're born as, since Esmeralda wanted to become a knight for not being able to cry. And I suppose there could be male guardians too, since apparently everybody can cry too XD and lol princess in what sense?
Yeah, can totally relate to that XD I always think "screw the background, I can't do it anyway" when I'm drawing stuff, but then it seens kind of too plain when I'm done and I end up doing some silly excuse for a background on Photoshop XD Pixel art is totally fine without a bg, though.
Fira has this nagging suspicion that Marin and his former knight were, um... "more than friends". XD Thankfully she's had the decency not to go and outright ask Marin if this was the case. Not to mention he has long, flowing, pretty hair. XD
And yeah, adding a background to pixel art just looks stupid when you halfass it, so I went without anything.
